Mary Beth Hamilton currently serves as Literacy Department Chairperson and Reading Intervention Teacher at Harrison High School in Colorado Springs. Hamilton earned two Bachelors degrees from Buffalo State College in Elementary Education and Special Education. She earned her Master’s Degree in Literacy Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Colorado. Hamilton has spent the last nine years teaching both nationally and internationally. She has lived and taught in rural New York, the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico, Kenya, and London. Hamilton's teaching experience ranges from working in a residential treatment center to an elite scholarly comprehensive school in London. Her repertoire includes: Data-driven Instruction, Sheltered Content Instruction, Multiple Response Strategies, Classroom Management, Differentiation, Response to Intervention, Culturally Responsive Instruction, Leadership Capacity, 21st Century Skills and the Five Components of Literacy.  Most recently, Hamilton was honored with the Harrison District Distinguished Teacher Certification in 2009, and she has been awarded for raising students' reading achievement scores. Mary Beth Hamilton serves Focal Point as a Senior Associate.
